Pubs in Grimsby

Grimsby has an array of restaurants, but there aren’t as many pubs in town. The few that are available are all concentrated in the middle of town, except for a few that border Laceby. The top pubs in town are:

The Barge

The Barge is open every day of the week. Guests can find the pub on Victoria Street. This is a great pub in the middle of town with a full bar and a juke box that places an array of music. The best nights to go are: Monday, Friday and Saturday.

Smoking is available outdoors.

Guests will be visiting the oldest independent pub in Grimsby when they visit The Barge. The restaurant provides food that’s sourced from local suppliers. There’s also a good selection of ale and food on the menu.

The Barge is one of the highest rated pubs in the city, so if you have one pub to pick while in town, The Barge is a great choice.

Ship Inn

Shipp Inn is on Main Road and is a little gem hidden away in town. The pub offers a good selection of food, from fish and chips to scallops and black pudding. Saturday is busy, so it’s recommended to book a table ahead of arrival.

There’s a good selection of food and ale at the Shipp Inn.

Fine wines are available behind the bar.

The Nag’s Head

Nag’s Head was two pubs, and they’ve been linked together since the 90s. The two pubs now consist of a restaurant and a pub. The pub’s one beer that’s always on tap is the Sharp’s Doom Bar.

Real ale is on tap, and there are meals at lunch and dinner.

The pub is open from noon to midnight Monday through Saturday. Live music is available on occasion. Guests can also go into the pub garden when the weather allows. Wi-Fi is available, too, with a function room and restaurant linked to the pub.

The Tap and Spile

Tap and Spile is a special pub that’s on Garth Lane. Traditional decor greets guests who enter the pub’s old mill building. The features inside of the pub still include many of the original features of the old mill, allowing guests to take a step back into the past while enjoying their ale.

Real Cask ales are offered.

Music fills the venue daily, but guests can enjoy:

  • Live music on Friday and Saturday night
  • Open mic on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month

There are big screens inside the pub to watch local games as well as pool tables and darts. This is a traditional British pub with the fun atmosphere and games to play.

Old Lloyds Arms

Nestled on Victoria Street is Old Lloyds Arms. The pub is open until 11 pm most days of the week. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday the pub is open until 1 am. The menu is complete with drinks for every occasion, including:

  • Black Russian
  • Margarita
  • Sex on the Beach
  • Chi Chi
  • White and red wine
  • Rose wine
  • Champagne

Every Tuesday night is student night, so the crowd is young and vibrant. Lloyds prides themselves on having the best jukebox in town. A few snack items are available on the menu to provide a little sustenance for visitors.

A selection of draughts, spirits and mixers are on sale daily.

International beers are available, too. Open Mic night is a recurring event.

Yardbirds Rock Club

The Yardbirds Rock Club is on Church Street, and it’s a pub run by bikers. This is a fun pub to visit, and there’s always a lively selection of patrons drinking at the bar. There is always a band playing at the club, too, so it’s a lot of fun.

The drinks are cheap, and be prepared to see a lot of tribute bands playing.

This is the best rock venue in town. A lot of guests come in just for the ale and leave after listening to a song or two. There is always good control of the crowd, so don’t expect the club to be rowdy.

Yardbirds is a good venue for ale and music.

The Yarborough Hotel

The Yarborough Hotel is on Bethlehem Street, and while it’s a great hotel to stay the night, the pub is open to the public. This is a great place to meet other visitors in the city. A vast food menu is offered, which is a nice treat after walking around Grimsby.

You’ll find that the hotel offers one of the largest drink menus in town:

  • Real ale and beer
  • Lagers
  • Spirits
  • Ciders
  • World beers
  • Craft beers
  • Cocktails
  • Wine and champagne
